Try to make reservations today on some airlines or rent a car and you'll end up talking to people from India, Philippines, and "Idon'tunderstandland." When a person calls a company for business, people gotta listen to a menu for five minutes before talking to a live person. What is going on?
The country is losing people-to-people contact and relationships in the name of more profit. Where has the aloha gone? Maybe for economic development for Molokai we could teach our young opios and kupunas, like Aunty Jenny, on how to make reservations for airlines or answering phones for a company. We could have workshops on communication skills - that's just half of it.
Molokai people already have the other half - and that is the mana (spirit) and aloha.
