Aloha Molokai! Well, here's the latest scoop for the community of Maunaloa. At the end of April our kupuna will need to find another place to congregate for their lunch site.

Presently Peter Nicholas has allowed the seniors until the end of April to use the Libby's Center. I have been calling Councilman Mateo's office regarding the completion of our long over-due Maunaloa Recreational center.

As of this date, the contractors need to finish a few more things so I do hope they can speed up the process so that our kupuna will be able to continue this service. Even with the closing of the ranch and seeing our buildings get boarded up one by one, the moral of this community is still ALIVE and filled with much hope.

The Maunaloa Ohana I Lokahi Association gave out bags from the Foodbank to about 25 Molokai Ranch workers and we plan to increase our food distribution so that we can accommodate not only our community but the ranch employees who will be out of a job in May. So I'd like to encourage all emergency pantries to increase your foodbank to help our unemployed families on Molokai who will need a helping hand.

Your roving reporter attended a Mediation workshop on Saturday April 26 and it was very educational and I enjoyed myself very much and met new friends as well. Keep up the great job Claude and board members. Mahalo for the ono food! In closing I'd like to share words of encouragement to our people. It's time for our island to begin to heal. As we join hands together to help one another in need in humbleness and forgiveness truly Molokai will continue to rise up in UNITY and we will get over this hurdle. Aloha pumehana and God bless.
