Linda Kauhane has resigned from the Molokai Planning Commission. The resignation is effective Wednesday. Kauhane cited work requirements on Maui as the reason for her departure from the Commission. Since August, she has been unable to make most of the daytime meetings, held at 12:30 p.m., including almost all meetings for the countywide policy plan. Kauhane’s term was effective through March of 2012. Mayor Charmaine Tavares will be called upon to appoint a new planning commission member.
Wednesday’s meeting of MoPC will be held at the Mitchell Pau’ole Center at 12:30 p.m. The main topic of discussion will be part two of the planning commission’s introductory session, and the approval of a letter to the county supporting a request from Malama Pono O Ka ‘Aina.
Malama Pono has requested the support of MoPC for its plan to map wetlands on the island’s East End.
Chairman Steve Chaikin will also discuss Molokai’s special management areas, zoning, the community plan update process and MoPC recommendations regarding transient vacation rentals.
The public is invited to attend. MoPC meets biweekly on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month. The commission’s agenda is available online before the meetings at http://www.mauicounty.gov/boards/bDetail.php?BoardID=26.
The next meeting is May 28.
