To veterans and community of Molokai,
On May 7, a meeting was held on the veteran’s lot with State Representatives Mele Carroll and Cindy Evans (Chair of State Veteran and Military Affairs) and State Veteran Services Director, Mark Moses. The Molokai hospitality style meeting was very informative.
Many veteran concerns were brought to the attention of the representatives and the director — this is how it gets done. They were impressed with Molokai’s turnout and participation. They affirmed that numbers trigger action.
Mr. Moses assured Molokai veterans that we ought to get our $250,000 grant before the end of this month. Yes, it’s been a long road but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The building will serve not only veterans but also our Molokai community. If everything comes together as planned, we will break ground soon.
Mahalo to more than 70 Molokai veterans who participated in the meeting. A big special mahalo for taking care of our property and helping with the setup goes to Chaplain Oliver Young, Jesse Dudoit, Albert Pu, Earl Paleka, Wendell DeFreitas, Mac Poepoe, Mel Hanohano, Wayne Rawlins, Al Marciel, Dick Davenport, Teddy Dudoit, Hanchi and Laslo. A big thank you for the ono grinds to Ray Sambueno, Dobie Enoka, Joyce and Max Agaw and Jesse Dudoit.
To Mr. and Mrs. Art Parr — mahalo for all your work, time and architectural presentations. Also, for the beautiful leis, mahalo to Alece Kono and Connie Hao. A big mahalo goes out to our MC and future point man, Bo Mahoe. Sorry If I have forgotten anybody — it’s called “sometimers.”
Great job to all and their spouses for the support. Veterans, pay your dues and get involved before we break ground.
